Sporting winger Souleymane Faye linked with surprise Porto switch

Sporting right winger Souleymane Faye is being linked with a move to Liga Portugal rivals Porto, with Portuguese media treating the 23-year-old’s future as a live transfer rumour rather than a settled situation.

The Senegalese attacker only joined Sporting from Granada on 21 January 2026, but fresh speculation now suggests Porto are monitoring his situation closely. Transfermarkt currently lists his market value at €1.50m, a modest figure that could make any deal relatively low-risk for the Estádio do Dragão side. The reported probability of a move remains unclear (“?”), underlining that talks – if any – are at an exploratory stage.

Key contractual details around Faye’s Sporting deal, including the expiry date, have not been made public, which has fuelled talk that Porto could try to exploit any short-term agreement or potential early exit clause. There is no indication he is a free agent or that his contract has expired, but the lack of clarity has encouraged rumour that his stay in Lisbon could be brief.

Born on 8 February 2003 in Dakar and standing at 1.79m, Faye is a right-footed winger whose main position is on the right of attack. He has built his career through a series of moves in Spain, turning out for Recreativo Granada, CF Talavera de la Reina and Betis Deportivo before stepping up to Granada’s first team and then moving to Portugal with Sporting.

His rise in value has been notable, climbing from €50,000 as a teenager at Recreativo Granada in March 2022 to €1.50m with Granada by December 2025 before his January switch to Sporting. Recent league outings in Portugal – including Sporting’s early spring fixtures in 2026 – have continued his adaptation to a higher level, although detailed match-by-match statistics are not yet fully documented.

Should a deal to Porto materialise, it would mark another rapid step in a career that has already spanned Spain and Portugal, and could provide Faye with a high-profile platform to enhance his reputation in European competition and accelerate his development as one of Senegal’s emerging wide forwards.
