Senegalese teenager Sega Mbodji is being linked with a move from Génération Foot to French Ligue 1 side FC Metz, according to transfer data.

The 16-year-old left winger, who plays for AS Académie Génération Foot in Senegal’s top flight, has emerged as a reported target for Metz, with the speculation recorded on 2 March 2026. The listed probability of the deal remains unclear, marked only as “?”, and no fee or contract details have been disclosed.

Mbodji, born on 27 November 2009, is valued at €100,000 on Transfermarkt, a figure last updated on 27 February 2026. Any approach from Metz would likely take that valuation into account as talks develop or stall. With no contract expiry date publicly available, there is also the theoretical possibility he could become available on a free at a later stage if no extension is agreed.

The right-footed attacker is primarily deployed on the left wing and wears the number 7 shirt for Génération Foot. Standing at 1.75m, he was promoted from Génération Foot’s U17 side to the senior AS Académie Génération Foot team on 25 August 2025 for the 2025-26 season in Senegal’s Ligue 1.

So far, his club career has been confined to Senegal, progressing entirely through the Génération Foot system. There is no record in the current data of senior international caps, but he is listed as representing AS Académie Génération Foot at national-team level in the database.

Recent match-by-match statistics are not provided in the dataset, so specific performances, scorelines and opponents cannot be verified. However, his rapid elevation to the first team and current valuation underline why Metz are monitoring his development.

Should a move to Ligue 1 materialise, a switch from Génération Foot to Metz at 16 would mark a significant step in Mbodji’s career, potentially accelerating his development and raising his profile on the European stage.
