FIFA hails Morocco’s youth football development program, set for rollout across Africa

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has earned glowing recognition from FIFA for its national youth football development programme, with world football’s governing body now considering replicating the Moroccan model in other African nations.

The praise follows two separate FIFA visits to Morocco under its International Talent Development Programme. The missions were aimed at closely evaluating the structure, organisation and overall impact of the country’s youth development strategy.

During their inspection tours, FIFA delegates visited several leading clubs, including Wydad Casablanca, Raja Casablanca, Fath Union Sport, and RS Berkane. According to the federation, the representatives expressed strong admiration for the technical planning, training methods and infrastructure standards observed within these institutions.

Impressed by the efficiency and long-term vision of the Moroccan system, FIFA has decided to organize a seminar in Morocco next April aimed at strengthening the training and development of Moroccan coaches. The initiative is expected to further elevate the country’s technical expertise and consolidate its reputation as a continental leader in youth football development.

The FRMF also highlighted that FIFA, which provides financial backing for talent development initiatives across Africa, will collaborate closely with the Moroccan federation to support selected clubs involved in the national programme. The partnership will focus on improving facilities and modernising infrastructure to ensure sustainable growth.

Importantly, the federation clarified that FIFA’s financial assistance will not be paid directly to the clubs. Instead, the funds will be channelled through the FRMF, which will oversee allocation and ensure that resources are properly managed in line with the programme’s strategic objectives.

The development marks another milestone for Moroccan football, reinforcing its growing influence on the African stage and positioning its youth system as a potential benchmark for the continent.
