Ismael Saibari assists two goals as Bayern Munich hand Stuttgart 5-1 defeat in German Bundesliga

Morocco international Ismael Saibari made an immediate impact off the bench as Bayern Munich opened their Bundesliga title defence with a commanding 5-1 victory over Stuttgart on Friday.

Saibari was introduced in the 62nd minute and quickly influenced the contest, providing two assists as Bayern turned a competitive game into a convincing victory at the Allianz Arena.

Michael Olise also scored twice, while Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz were on target for the German champions.

Upamecano gives Bayern the lead

Stuttgart threatened first when Tiago Tomas struck the crossbar after breaking into the Bayern penalty area.

Bayern responded with pressure of their own, with Michael Olise also coming close when his free-kick hit the post.

The hosts eventually broke the deadlock in the 21st minute when Upamecano rose to meet a corner and headed into the bottom corner.

Stuttgart levelled seven minutes after half-time through Josha Vagnoman, who collected a rebound before firing into the top corner.

Bayern regain control

The visitors’ hopes of taking something from the match were short-lived.

Two minutes after Stuttgart’s equaliser, Olise restored Bayern’s lead after being played into the box by Joshua Kimmich.

Vagnoman then endured another unfortunate moment when he turned a dangerous Bayern pass into his own net in the 57th minute.

Olise added his second of the evening six minutes later, cutting inside before firing past the Stuttgart goalkeeper to put Bayern 4-1 ahead.

Saibari makes his mark

Saibari entered the match in the 62nd minute, replacing Nathaniel Brown, and the Moroccan forward soon played a decisive role.

In the 82nd minute, Saibari delivered the ball into the path of Aleksandar Pavlovic, who finished from close range to extend Bayern’s advantage.

Luis Diaz completed the rout in stoppage time, taking advantage of poor defending before calmly finishing one-on-one with the goalkeeper.

The emphatic victory gives Bayern an ideal start to their Bundesliga campaign, while Saibari’s two assists will provide an early indication of the Moroccan’s potential importance to the champions this season.
