PSG move to comply with Court Rulings to end Mbappé dispute
Fresh reports from the French media indicate that Paris Saint-Germain have begun complying with legal rulings in their ongoing financial dispute with former star Kylian Mbappé, following a series of court decisions in the player’s favour.
The Paris club has reportedly paid four million euros out of the six million euros ordered by the Labour Court in a ruling delivered on December 12. This latest payment follows heightened tensions after Mbappé’s lawyer dispatched a court bailiff to the club’s headquarters to enforce a judgment demanding the settlement of 60.9 million euros in outstanding dues. Prior to this, the club had already paid 55 million euros.
According to L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are now seeking to reach an agreement with Mbappé in an effort to ease the situation. The club is reportedly urging the forward to waive part of the court’s decision, particularly a clause requiring the publication of the ruling on its official website for an entire month, a measure the club believes could harm its public image.
Talks, however, appear to have reached a standstill. Mbappé’s legal representatives are said to be prepared to send a bailiff once again, accompanied by a fresh payment order, should the remaining two million euros not be settled without delay.
While the club is weighing up the possibility of filing an appeal to recover the sums already paid, the legal outlook seems uncertain. The player has secured consecutive favourable decisions from both the French League and the civil courts.
As reported by L’Equipe, Mbappé remains firm in his stance, rejecting mediation or amicable settlements and insisting on full payment of his financial entitlements, including salaries and bonuses from the 2023 to 2024 season.
The dispute, which has lingered for a year and a half, continues despite the contractual relationship between the parties officially ending in July last year.
