FC Oleksandriya have completed the loan signing of right winger Mauro Rodrigues from Swiss side Yverdon Sport FC, adding the 24-year-old Guinea-Bissau/Portugal attacker to their squad for the current campaign. The deal is a temporary move described as a loan transfer, with Rodrigues remaining under contract with Yverdon and registered at Oleksandriya for the duration of the loan.
Contract start date: 2026-02-11
Contract end date: 2026-06-30
Rodrigues arrives in Ukraine with a current market value of €300k and will now be eligible to feature in the Premier Liga for Oleksandriya. The agreement also confirms that, once the loan period ends, he is scheduled to return to Yverdon Sport, where his long-term club status will be reassessed. There is no indication in the data of a permanent purchase option, meaning he could face an uncertain future beyond the end of the loan if his parent club and the player decide to part ways.
Born in Funchal on 15 April 2001, Rodrigues represents Guinea-Bissau and Portugal at nationality level and is listed as an attacking right winger who favours his right foot. Standing 1.78m tall, he is expected to offer Oleksandriya width and directness in the final third, operating primarily from the right side of the attack.
The move marks his first stint outside Switzerland after progressing through the ranks at FC Sion. Rodrigues advanced from FC Sion Youth to the U18 side, then to FC Sion U21 and eventually the FC Sion first team, before earning a transfer to Yverdon Sport in 2022. In Switzerland he has experience in the domestic system, including time in the Challenge League with Yverdon.
His market value trajectory reflects a player who broke through early. Having once peaked at around €1m during his time with Yverdon, his valuation has since settled back at €300k, the figure recorded at the time of this move. That fluctuation underlines both his perceived potential and the need for a fresh platform to reassert his standing.
Oleksandriya’s acquisition of Rodrigues on loan introduces a player with top-flight Swiss and developmental pedigree into a different footballing environment. For the Ukrainian club, securing a winger with dual Guinea-Bissau/Portuguese nationality on a low-risk loan aligns with a strategy of strengthening wide areas without a substantial transfer outlay.
For Rodrigues, the arrangement is a pivotal step. A successful spell in the Premier Liga could improve his market value again and open doors either to a permanent transfer, a renewed role at Yverdon Sport upon his return, or, depending on contract decisions after the loan ends, the possibility of entering the market as a free agent. How he adapts to Oleksandriya and Ukrainian football in the coming months is likely to shape the next phase of his career.
