Strasbourg striker Emmanuel Emegha faces a lengthy absence after suffering a relapse of a thigh injury, the club confirmed ahead of their Ligue 1 trip to Le Havre.
The 23-year-old Dutch forward, who had been returning from a three-week layoff last December, will miss Strasbourg’s upcoming fixtures as he recovers.
The news comes ahead of Matchday 21, with the Alsatian side scheduled to face Le Havre AC at the Stade Océane on Sunday afternoon.
Strasbourg coach Gary O’Neil provided the update during a press conference on Saturday, describing the setback as both frustrating and challenging for the player.
“Emmanuel Emegha will be out for about two months. It’s very tough and frustrating for him. He injured himself in the same place as last time,” O’Neil said, as reported by Ici Alsace.
Emegha has struggled for game time this season, appearing in just 11 matches overall, including seven in Ligue 1.
His absence leaves a gap in Strasbourg’s attacking line, adding to the team’s challenges as they look to improve their position in the league table.
The Dutch striker’s recurring injury highlights ongoing concerns over his fitness, which has limited his ability to contribute consistently to the squad.
Strasbourg will now have to adjust their attacking options without one of their most promising forwards.
With two months estimated for recovery, Emegha is expected to miss a significant portion of the spring campaign.
The club and coaching staff will focus on ensuring a careful rehabilitation process to prevent further setbacks and protect the player’s long-term fitness.
As Strasbourg prepare to travel to Le Havre, attention will now shift to finding solutions in attack to compensate for the loss of Emegha, while monitoring his recovery closely in the weeks ahead.
