Saturday Erimuya: Centre-back without club attracting fresh transfer interest

Nuhu Adams

Saturday Erimuya has left CF Lorca Deportiva to become a free agent, bringing his stint in Spain’s Segunda Federación Group IV to an end after his contract with the Murcian club expired. The Nigerian centre-back’s move to the “Without Club” status is registered as a completed transfer, with the change of registration starting on 2026-02-02 and running without a fixed contract end date, effectively placing him on the open market. No transfer fee was involved in the separation, while his current market value is listed at €150k.

The 28-year-old defender, born in Benin-City and standing 1.90m tall, now becomes available to potential suitors as an experienced option at the heart of defence. Having most recently represented Lorca Deportiva in the Spanish fourth tier, his departure formally removes him from league competition and allows him to negotiate freely with interested clubs in any country or division.

Erimuya’s pathway to free agency reflects a career built almost entirely in European football outside his native Nigeria. After emerging from the BJ Foundation Academy in Nigeria, he first moved abroad to Kayseri Erciyesspor in Türkiye, then switched to Spain with Cádiz CF Mirandilla, where he reached a peak market valuation of €300k during the 2020–2021 period. Subsequent stops at Real Valladolid Promesas, RZ Deportivo Aragón, AD Ceuta FC, UE Sant Andreu and, most recently, Lorca Deportiva, have kept him in the Spanish system across multiple seasons and divisions.

In the last few years, Erimuya has alternated between being under contract and being unattached, moving from Ceuta to free agency, then signing for Sant Andreu, later joining Lorca Deportiva, and now once again exiting into the free-agent pool. His most recent recorded market values show a gradual adjustment from €200k at Ceuta down to €150k during his spells at Sant Andreu and Lorca Deportiva, underlining that he remains regarded as a professional asset with potential utility, even if not at his previous peak.

A right-footed central defender by trade, Erimuya’s experience across different Spanish clubs suggests familiarity with varied tactical systems and competitive contexts, from reserve sides linked to top-flight outfits to ambitious lower-division teams. His continued presence in European football also underlines a career largely shaped abroad rather than in domestic Nigerian leagues.

With his registration now officially switched to free-agent status from 2026-02-02, attention turns to where the Nigerian might next continue his career. Any new deal would mark another step in a journey that has already taken him from West Africa to Türkiye and through a long tour of Spain’s footballing pyramid, and his availability at a €150k market valuation positions him as a potentially accessible defensive reinforcement for clubs looking to add experience and height to their back line.
