Youssouph Badji has left Denmark for Greece after securing a loan move to Panetolikos FC, bringing an end to a difficult spell marked by limited playing time at AGF Aarhus.
The Senegalese striker, who has struggled for regular opportunities in the Danish Superliga this season, has joined the Greek Super League side until the end of the campaign.
The move offers the 24-year-old a chance to relaunch his career in a new environment after featuring only sporadically in Denmark.
Badji’s transfer marks another chapter in a career that has already taken him across several European leagues.
Having first emerged at Casa Sports in Senegal, he went on to experience football in Belgium, France and Denmark.
His time in Europe has included spells with Club Brugge and Charleroi in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League, a period in Ligue 1 with Stade Brestois, and most recently a stint with AGF Aarhus.
Panetolikos confirmed the arrival of the forward in a statement, outlining his career path and the terms of the deal. “Our team has welcomed Youssouph Badji on loan from Aarhus for six months.
Born in Senegal on December 20, 2001, he played for Casa Sports. He was then loaned to Club Brugge, Brest, and Charleroi. Since September 2024, he has been registered with Aarhus. He will wear the number 25,” the club announced.
The Greek side, currently placed 12th in the domestic standings, are hoping Badji’s pace and physical presence can strengthen their attacking options during the second half of the season.
For the player, the switch represents an opportunity to gain valuable minutes after a frustrating period in Denmark.
Badji joined AGF with expectations of making an impact, but his involvement has been limited. He has made just eight appearances in all competitions this season and has yet to score, despite the club sitting at the top of the Danish first division.
With competition for places intense, a temporary move was seen as the best solution for all parties.
Now in Greece, Badji will be aiming to rediscover the form that once made him a promising prospect at club and youth international level.
The loan deal allows him to focus on regaining confidence and consistency, while Panetolikos gain an experienced forward familiar with the demands of top-flight European football.
As the season progresses, both player and club will hope the move proves mutually beneficial, offering Badji a fresh platform and Panetolikos added attacking depth in their bid to climb the table.
