Omar Marmoush hailed Manchester City’s mentality after scoring the opener in their 2-0 Premier League victory over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium.
“We fought until the end, showed a very good mentality from the beginning,” the forward said, delighted to make a decisive impact on his first league start since August. He explained that Pep Guardiola’s instructions were clear: “He wanted us to put our hearts out there and fight for every ball.”
Marmoush stressed how important it felt to score and contribute immediately after returning from AFCON duty, adding that he was “very happy to be here after AFCON and help my team.”
His goal came early, as he reacted sharply to a breakthrough from Matheus Nunes before finishing clinically, a moment he described with satisfaction, saying he was happy for both the goal and the three points.
City’s second came through Antoine Semenyo in first-half stoppage time, sealing a much-needed win that ended a two-game losing streak.
Looking ahead, Marmoush underlined the squad’s focus on recovery and consistency, noting that the players now aim “to get our legs and mind fresh again and then we go again” as the title race intensifies.
