Nigeria Football Federation president Ibrahim Musa Gusau has dismissed reports confronting the Moroccan Football Federation president Fouzi Lekjaa after their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations semi-final defeat.
The Super Eagles fell short to the Atlas Lions, ending their quest of securing their fourth AFCON title in the North African country. The crunch semi-final had to be decided on penalties following a pulsating goalless in both regular and extra-time.
Earlier reports suggested Gusau had confronted the Moroccan FA boss after the defeat. But he has swiftly denied, stressing the claims are untrue and must be treated with the needed contempt it deserves.
“I really don’t know where the report is coming from,” he said, adding that “Nigeria and Morocco have cordial relationships in football and even at the level of government… I have had a good relationship with Mr Lekjaa.”
The NFF boss stressed that the alleged incident never happened and denied commenting on officiating before or after the match. He said he was “bemused” by suggestions of a match.
Despite debates over refereeing, Gusau praised the organisers, saying the NFF had “only praises for the Morocco Football Federation… the Confederation of African Football”.
