Abdoulaye Fall: “We Will Be There and We Will Stand Firm” amid CAF proceedings
The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) has signalled its readiness to respond to any disciplinary measures following the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final.
President Abdoulaye Fall addressed the controversy after the Senegal national team protested refereeing decisions during the final, which saw them take a stand against calls they considered unfair.
The team briefly halted play to express its dissatisfaction, raising concerns over potential sanctions from the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Fall, speaking to APS, emphasised that the FSF remains calm in the face of any proceedings. “We are waiting to see what the CAF decides and we will take the necessary measures.
There is no problem at this level. We are used to these kinds of situations; even during the Africa Cup of Nations, we already had proceedings before the disciplinary committee.
We were accused of some of our supporters using flares, which, in my opinion, is part of football. In any case, we will be there and we will deal with it. We are ready, and it is the role of a leader to manage this kind of situation,” he said.
The FSF president’s remarks underline Senegal’s determination to stand firm amid scrutiny over its reaction during the final.
The protest by the team drew attention to decisions they perceived as favouring the host nation and highlighted the tension surrounding refereeing in high-stakes matches.
While sanctions are still under consideration, Fall stressed the importance of leadership and preparedness in navigating disputes with governing bodies.
His comments reflect the federation’s approach to football governance, balancing compliance with international regulations and defending the national team’s interests.
The incident has sparked widespread debate among fans and analysts, focusing on the limits of player and team protests and the disciplinary procedures of CAF. Senegal’s proactive stance signals its commitment to addressing any official complaints while maintaining confidence in its position.
