Ahmed Abdel Raouf has officially stepped down as head coach of Zamalek, bringing his spell in charge of the White Knights to an end after just seven matches on the touchline.
He confirmed his departure on Tuesday evening through a personal statement shared on his social media accounts.
In his message, Abdel Raouf stressed that his decision to resign did not mean any emotional separation from the club, saying that Zamalek will remain deeply rooted in his heart. He expressed pride in the period he spent serving what he described as a great football institution, highlighting the experiences and memories he gained along the way.
He also thanked everyone working within the club, singling out the players along with the medical and administrative staff, and praised their efforts during his tenure. Abdel Raouf added that he would now return to the stands as a supporter, ending his statement with the line “There will be no more words.. thank you loyal Zamalek fans.”
His exit means Zamalek’s board must immediately start searching for a new coach at a difficult time for the club. Abdel Raouf had replaced Belgian boss Yannick Ferrera and recorded three wins, three defeats and one draw in his seven games in charge.
