Saudi Pro League chief Omar Mugharbel responds to Mohammed Salah’s transfer links
Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Pro League, Omar Mugharbel, has opened up on speculation surrounding Mohammed Salah’s potential switch to the Asian country after outburst at Liverpool.
Despite having a running contract, the former Chelae and Roma star could part ways with Liverpool as early as January after a break in relationship with manager Arne Slot and other officials.
Salah has struggled to replicate last season’s record-breaking performance for the Reds, with manager Arne Slot relegating the pacey winger to the bench in the sides’ last three games in the Premier League.
After missing the side game against Leeds United, the experienced forward furiously expressed his displeasure at the club’s hierarchy, leading to exclusion from the team’s trip to Inter Milan.
Salah is frustrated with his bench warming role at the club, sparking a potential winter departure, with Saudi Arabia giants, Al Hilal and Al Ittihad expressing firm interest in the attacker.
However, the representatives of the Saudi Pro League has responded to Mohammed Salah’s transfer links as the winter window approaches.
“Mohamed Salah is a desired player in the Saudi League, but it’s the clubs who are responsible for negotiating with players. Without a doubt, Salah is one of them,” he said.
The attacker signed a new two-year contract with the Reds late last season, keeping him at the club until summer 2027. On the back of his outstanding performance last season, which his goals and assists propelled Slot’s side to Premier League glory, Salah has not hit the same heights this season.
For the record, Salah has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists.
