Moroccan left-back Mahmoud Bentayg is being linked with a potential exit from Zamalek that could leave him without a club, according to transfer data suggesting a 56% probability of a move.

The 26-year-old defender, currently listed at a market value of €800,000, is the subject of growing speculation that he could become a free agent, with his next destination yet to emerge. The latest data places “Without Club” as the mooted next step, indicating that talks over a new deal or a permanent switch elsewhere may not be progressing.

Bentayg, born in Casablanca on 30 October 1999, joined Zamalek from AS Saint-Étienne after an initial loan spell from the French side. His value has climbed steadily during his time in Egypt, rising from €450,000 in early 2025 to €800,000 as of the most recent update on 1 December 2025, reflecting his status as a regular left-back option and a key part of the Cairo club’s defensive structure.

The Morocco defender’s path to one of Africa’s biggest clubs has been gradual rather than sudden. A product of the Mohammed VI Football Academy, he moved through Racing Casablanca and TAS Casablanca before earning a switch to Raja Club Athletic in 2022. His performances there opened the door to Europe with Saint-Étienne in 2023, before the subsequent loan and move to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.

While no specific agreement has been disclosed and no alternative club is yet named, the possibility of Bentayg entering the market as a free player is likely to attract interest from sides seeking an experienced, left-footed full-back with exposure to both North African and European football. If the proposed separation from Zamalek materialises, it could mark a pivotal juncture, offering him either a fresh European return or a new challenge elsewhere to further shape his career and reputation.
