After Algeria’s victory over Saudi Arabia, several key players reflected on the team’s performance and preparation for future challenges.
Riyad Mahrez expressed satisfaction with both the match and the tough opposition, saying, “We delivered an excellent performance against a solid team and closed this training camp in the best way possible.”
Asked about a controversial hand-ball in his club’s recent match, Mahrez replied with a laugh, “It’s better to leave it as an open question, I don’t know if I touched it or not,” prompting laughter from reporters.
Rayan Aït Nouri emphasized Algeria’s strong team bonds and eagerness to help newcomers settle in. “We have a great collective spirit and want new players to feel comfortable,” he explained. Aït Nouri insisted that even friendly matches matter, stating, “Even if it’s a friendly, it’s important. We gave everything against Saudi Arabia and want to approach AFCON with strength and confidence.”
Both players demonstrate the positive energy in the Algerian camp—Mahrez leading through professionalism and Aït Nouri championing solidarity. Coach Vladimir Petkovic uses these matches to fine-tune tactics, with player confidence running high ahead of upcoming competitions.
