Limited chances, big competition: Nicolas Jackson’s Bayern future in doubt

Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson is reportedly set to remain at Bayern Munich for the rest of the season despite struggling for playing time.

Jackson, 24, has scored three goals and registered one assist in 13 competitive appearances under Bayern boss Vincent Kompany, competing for minutes with Harry Kane.

The Senegalese forward has seen his market value reportedly drop by €11.5 million during his loan spell, reflecting his limited opportunities on the pitch so far.

Bayern’s loan deal reportedly includes an obligation to buy around £56.2 million, but it only activates if Jackson reaches a specific number of appearances, currently considered unlikely.

Speculation about a potential January departure has circulated, with reports suggesting Jackson might seek regular game time elsewhere.

However, sources now indicate he will stay at Bayern until the end of the campaign.

Jackson has logged just 420 minutes this season, largely playing second fiddle to Kane, but Kompany is expected to gradually increase his involvement as Bayern lead in the Bundesliga.

At his unveiling in Bavaria, Jackson reflected on the challenges of the transfer and adapting to life in Germany. “It was tough; a tough time. Difficult moments in those last days,” he said.

He added, “But I was very confident I will stay here because this is where I want to play and want to be. It was very tough, but in the end we got it, so I’m very glad.”

Despite a slow start, Jackson remains committed to proving his worth at Bayern, aiming to contribute more consistently in the league and European competitions.

The club appears patient, allowing him time to adapt, while Chelsea monitor his progress ahead of potential future moves, whether permanent or another loan.
