Brentford consider move for unattached Axel Tuanzebe

Axel Tuanzebe, the DR Congo and England defender currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Brentford.

The 28-year-old centre-back left Burnley on 1 July after a season with the club, having joined from Ipswich Town in July 2025. Burnley and Ipswich were both relegated from the Premier League during his recent spells, while Tuanzebe helped Ipswich secure promotion to the top flight in 2023-24.

Tuanzebe has made four appearances at the 2026 World Cup, starting each of the matches recorded for him and completing 100% of the available minutes. The tournament represents his most recent competitive involvement.

His club career includes 64 Premier League appearances, along with 52 in the Championship. He began his senior career with Manchester United and also spent time on loan at Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City before leaving the club in 2023.

Tuanzebe’s departure from Burnley leaves him available without a current club as Brentford are linked with a move. His listed market value is €5m, although there is no reported transfer fee attached to the rumour.
