Everton linked with DR Congo and England defender Axel Tuanzebe

Axel Tuanzebe, the DR Congo and England defender currently without a club, has been linked with a move to Everton.

The 28-year-old centre-back left Burnley on 1 July 2026 after one season with the club and could now be considered by the Premier League side as they assess defensive options.

Tuanzebe joined Burnley from Ipswich Town in July 2025 on a free transfer. His single season at Turf Moor ended with Burnley being relegated from the Premier League, one of two top-flight relegations recorded during his career.

He has made 64 Premier League appearances, scoring once, and has also played 52 times in the Championship. His most recent recorded performances came at the 2026 World Cup, where he appeared in four matches and started every game.

Tuanzebe began his senior career at Manchester United after coming through the club’s academy. He later spent loan spells with Aston Villa, Napoli and Stoke City before leaving United in 2023. He subsequently joined Ipswich, helping them to promotion to the top flight in the 2023-24 season.

The defender’s market value is listed at €5m, although no transfer fee is attached to his current status. He is currently without a club following the end of his Burnley spell, while Everton are the club linked with his next move.
