Luis Enrique: Achraf Hakimi is the best right-back in the world
Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has described Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi as the best right back in the world.
Speaking ahead of PSG’s clash against Stade Brestois this weekend, the Spanish tactician said he has absolute trust in the full-back and that is why the club is not looking to sign a new player for the position.
“For me, he is definitely the best right-back in the world,” Enrique said and added, “That’s why we’re not signing another right-back. He almost always plays, and if he doesn’t, we have other options. You have to pay a lot of money to get a right-back who’s only a backup, plays three games, and then gets demotivated.”
Enrique highlighted Hakimi’s influence both on and off the pitch, revealing that the defender was chosen by his teammates as the club’s second captain.
“Hakimi’s status hasn’t changed in the last two years. He’s one of the leaders in the dressing room. His teammates elected him as their second captain, which shows his status and level within the team,” Enrique said.
Enrique also applauded Hakimi’s consistency, versatility, and winning mentality.
“As a player, he’s a game-changer; he has a lot of defensive and offensive qualities and plays almost every game, always giving 100 per cent. I’m very happy to have him on the team.”
