UCL: Hugo Ekitike scores to inspire Liverpool’s 5-1 victory at Eintracht Frankfurt

French striker of Cameroonian descent, Hugo Ekitike, scored on Wednesday night to propel Liverpool to secure a 5-1 comeback victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League.

Eintracht Frankfurt opened the scoring in the 26th minute when Rasmus Kristensen latched onto an excellent pass just outside the box and powered a strike toward the left-hand post. The ball bounced off the base of the post and into the net.

Liverpool responded swiftly. In the 35th minute, Hugo Ekitike weaved his way past defenders and unleashed a magnificent effort from the edge of the box into the bottom left corner, leaving goalkeeper Michael Zetterer helpless as the score was brought to 1-1.

Four minutes later, Virgil van Dijk met a corner and calmly headed the ball from close range into the right side of the goal to put Liverpool ahead.

The momentum continued in the 44th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai delivered another accurate corner, allowing Ibrahima Konate to rise highest and direct a precise header into the bottom right corner, making it 3-1 before halftime.

Liverpool continued their dominance in the second half. In the 66th minute, Florian Wirtz played a fantastic through ball to Cody Gakpo, who reacted quickly to beat the goalkeeper and fire a close-range shot into the bottom left corner.

The fifth came in the 77th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai produced a perfect strike from the edge of the box, placing it inside the left post to seal the emphatic 5-1 victory.

The win marked Liverpool’s first in the last five matches in all competitions.
