Morocco U17 head coach Mohamed Ouahbi says he firmly believes the North African nation has what it takes to win the FIFA World Cup before 2030.

Speaking with unwavering confidence, Ouahbi said Morocco’s rapid football development in recent years has laid the groundwork for a team capable of competing with, and beating, the best in the world much sooner than expected.

“The Moroccan senior national team wants to win the World Cup, and that will start from 2026!” Ouahbi said. “We are not going to wait for 2030.”

For Ouahbi, this ambition goes beyond motivation; it’s a rallying cry for both players and supporters.

“We have the talent, we have the discipline, and we have the support. Now we must believe that 2026 is not too early, it is the right time,” he added.

Ouahbi recently guided Morocco’s U20 side to victory at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup, defeating Argentina in the final in Chile, a landmark achievement that further strengthens his conviction about Morocco’s potential on the global stage.

As the country prepares to co-host the 2030 World Cup, Ouahbi’s bold message is clear: Morocco isn’t waiting for its moment, it’s already chasing it.
