Franco-Senegalese defender Benjamin Mendy set to join Polish outfit Pogoń Szczecin on two-year deal
France international of Senegalese descent Benjamin Mendy is on the brink of joining Polish outfit Pogoń Szczecin.
The former Manchester City left-back is joining Pogoń Szczecin as a free agent following his departure from FC Zurich at the end of last season.
Mendy parted ways with the Swiss outfit after few months spell at the club, making eight appearances, and starting only three of the matches. He joined FC Zürich last February following his departure from Ligue 2 club Lorient after similar contract termination.
The experienced defender signed a two-year contract with Les Merlus, after being cleared of rape and sexual assault charges. Following an unimpressive spell, both parties agreed to sever ties.
However, the defender has now found a new home and is on verge of joining the Polish club on a two-year deal. Mendy is expected to be announced in the coming days.
Mendy has struggled to regain his form following the rape and sexual assault charges that marred his career. The incident led to contract termination at Manchester City and has since not being the same after being cleared.
