The Confederation of African Football has announced a landmark partnership with the European Commission, highlighting the great cooperation between Africa and Europe at large.
As cooperation continues to grow across various sectors, the European Commission seeks to impact football as well, leading to the recent partnership.
With this partnership, the European Commission will become an official partner for several continental tournaments, including the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations to be staged in Morocco, the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, and the African Schools Football Championship.
In return, one of the European Union’s main governing bodies will use this platform to promote its €150 billion Global Gateway investment program, aimed at boosting infrastructure, connectivity, and education throughout Africa.
Patrice Motsepe, who is currently the President of the continental football governing body is doing everything possible to raise the standard of the game in Africa.
Recently, Motsepe, who is the president of Mamelodi Sundowns raised concerns about salaries of players plying their trade on the continent. However, he advocated for a competitive salary for players to curb the mass departure of players.
In an attempt to revive Africa football, Motsepe has made strides to get the best of sponsorships and partnerships for major competitions on the continent.
