FC Barcelona consider Serhou Guirassy as attacking plans turn to Borussia Dortmund
FC Barcelona have opened discussions with Borussia Dortmund about signing Guinea international Serhou Guirassy as they search for attacking reinforcements.
The 30-year-old striker has established himself as one of the most prolific forwards in the German league, and Barcelona regard him as a serious option to lead their attack after talks over a move for Julian Alvarez failed to produce an agreement.
Interest in Guirassy is not new, but the subject was raised directly between the two clubs during discussions about the transfer of young Barcelona defender Hector Fort, according to journalist Gerard Romero.
Barcelona’s latest approach reflects a change in focus after the breakdown of negotiations for Alvarez. The Catalan club’s officials now see Guirassy as a strong alternative, with his profile understood to match the technical staff’s requirements for strengthening the forward line.
The deal could be easier to complete because of the financial terms believed to be included in Guirassy’s contract. The striker is reported to have a release clause estimated at between 30m and 40m euros, a figure considered accessible for Barcelona’s finances.
Guirassy remains under contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 2028. His annual salary in Germany is reported to be 9,430,000 euros, equivalent to 6,129,500,000 CFA francs. His market value is listed at 32m euros by Transfermarkt.
The forward’s goalscoring record has helped make him one of the most sought-after attacking players in Germany. Barcelona are therefore assessing whether his physical presence, finishing ability and experience could provide a solution in the central striker position.
Any potential move would also have to be considered alongside Dortmund’s immediate schedule. Borussia Dortmund are due to face Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup very soon, with the fixture providing another opportunity for Guirassy to feature for the club while speculation over his future continues.
Odds published by the betting company 1xBet place Dortmund at 4.70 to win that match, with a draw priced at 4.25 and Bayern Munich listed at 1.63.
