Habib Beye’s leadership at Rennes has been rewarded with a contract extension after steering the club to Ligue 1 safety.
Appointed in January following Jorge Sampaoli’s exit, Beye took charge at a critical time with the team battling relegation.
His arrival came after a successful stint with Red Star, where he guided the Paris-based side to promotion to Ligue 2. That achievement drew attention, and when Rennes came calling, Beye jumped at the chance to test himself at a higher level.
“My clause is clear, you know it: if the club stays in Ligue 1, I get an automatic one-year contract extension. So yes, it’s official,” said the coach.
Under his watch, Rennes turned their season around. With a ten-point gap over 16th-placed Le Havre and only three matches left, survival is now secure. This achievement ensures Rennes will play a 32nd straight season in Ligue 1 — only PSG and Lyon have enjoyed longer runs.
Beye’s contract included a survival clause that granted an automatic extension upon avoiding the drop. The coach confirmed he will now stay at the helm until 2026.
