Winger Monnapule Saleng has been spotted at Orlando Pirates training for the first time in almost four months amid growing speculation over a possible departure from the club.
The 27-year-old winger last featured for the Buccaneers in December during a CAF Champions League clash against Al Ahly.
Pirates have engaged the enterprising winger severally in the past few months in an attempt to renew his contract. However, all efforts proved futile due to the player’s salary demands, which Pirates have yet to accept.
AfricaSoccer.com understands that the standoff stems from contractual complications rather than performance issues.
Saleng was initially subjected to a departure from the club ahead of the summer window. However, his return training come as a huge boost for Orlando Pirates, who are keen to keep their asset.
The enterprising winger trained with the South African giants for the first time in 2025 training, signaling a possible contract renewal.
At the moment, Saleng’s fate hangs in the balance, but could commit to Pirates if talks progress well in the coming days.
Since joining the club in 2021, Saleng has established himself as a key cog to Orlando Pirates.
The 27-year-old attacker has made just 13 appearances across competitions this season for Pirates, scoring five goals and providing two assists.
He made his debut for the South African national team in June 2021 and has since made 10 appearances without scoring or registering an assist.
