Italian midfielder Nicolò Fagioli, formerly of Juventus, has credited his long-time friend and teammate, Moise Kean, for influencing his move to Fiorentina.
Both players, who share a history dating back to their early teens at Juventus, reunited at Fiorentina this season.
Kean, an Italian forward of Ivorian descent, transitioned to Fiorentina from Juventus in July 2024. His move was finalized for €13 million, with potential bonuses up to €5 million.
Kean’s impact at Fiorentina has been significant, as he has become a key player for the team.
Fagioli, 23, found himself on the periphery at Juventus under manager Thiago Motta, prompting his decision to seek more playing time elsewhere.
He joined Fiorentina on loan in February 2025, with an obligation to buy at the end of the season.
Fagioli expressed gratitude towards Kean, stating that their longstanding friendship played a pivotal role in his decision to join Fiorentina.
“He definitely played a role because he made two or three calls to me, convinced me, and spoke very highly of the city, the team, the teammates, and the club. So, it’s also thanks to him that I’m here.
“He was certainly coming from a slightly difficult period because he was playing a bit less. He came here and did great, confirming himself as the great player he has shown to be.
“I’m happy for him because he’s a friend; I spent many years with him, and he’s having an extraordinary season.”
Kean’s successful integration into Fiorentina has not only bolstered the team’s attacking options but also provided a familiar environment for Fagioli, facilitating his transition.
