Al-Fateh striker Djaniny is set to undergo medical examinations on Monday, March 3, following a shoulder injury sustained during his side’s 2-1 defeat to Al-Taawoun in the Saudi Pro League.
The Cape Verde international was forced off in the 50th minute of Saturday’s match, dealing a further blow to Al-Fateh, who sit just one point above the relegation zone.
The forward was replaced by Matheus Machado after suffering what is suspected to be a dislocated shoulder.
Initial assessments indicate a shoulder dislocation, but the full extent of the injury will only be confirmed after an MRI scan.
The medical tests are expected to provide clarity on the duration of his absence and outline the rehabilitation programme required.
Djaniny, who boasts 35 international caps with seven goals for Cape Verde, joined Al-Fateh in the summer of 2023 from Trabzonspor after a loan spell at Sharjah in the UAE.
The 33-year-old has scored four goals in 19 league appearances this season, contributing to a total of 13 goals and two assists across 40 matches in all competitions for the Saudi club.
His absence will be a significant setback for Al-Fateh as they prepare for their upcoming league fixture against Al-Kholood on Thursday, with the team seeking to avoid being dragged into the relegation zone in the final stretch of the campaign.
