The Libyan Football Federation has announced its list of candidates for the Election Committee and Appeals Committee, just ahead of its General Assembly scheduled for today in Tripoli.

This announcement was made through the Federation’s official Facebook page and includes key figures nominated for leadership roles across both committees.

Nasser Othman Khalifa Omar is set to chair the Election Committee, while Salah Jaber Al-Fitouri will head the Appeals Committee.

Alongside these primary appointments, the lists include the names of vice presidents, members, and alternate members for each committee, signifying the Federation’s commitment to a transparent electoral process as it prepares for a new phase in Libyan football governance.

In addition to the administrative developments, the Federation also confirmed an extension of the registration period for players in the Libyan Premier League, locally referred to as “Our League.”

Initially scheduled to close today, the registration deadline has been extended by six days, allowing clubs to complete their squad preparations by Thursday, 7 November.

Founded in 1962, the Libyan Football Federation joined the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) in 1964, followed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in 1965.

Over the years, it has played a pivotal role in shaping Libyan football, most notably through the establishment of the Libyan Premier League in 1963.

The first-ever league title was claimed by Al-Ahly Tripoli during the 1963-64 season, marking the beginning of professional football in the nation.

The Federation is also responsible for managing Libya’s national football team, which achieved a historic milestone by winning the African Nations Championship in 2014.

This achievement remains one of the highlights of Libyan football, symbolizing the potential and resilience of the sport in the country despite ongoing challenges.

As the Federation’s General Assembly convenes, it signals a crucial step for Libyan football as it aims to strengthen its organizational structure and inspire future achievements at both the league and national levels.
