Zamalek have warned that they will take legal action against anyone accusing the club’s administration of corruption or wasting public money without providing evidence, after reports linked the club to player disputes that resulted in fines totalling $7m.
The allegations were made recently by several media figures, who claimed Zamalek’s involvement in a number of player cases had led to substantial financial penalties.
In an official statement, Zamalek’s board said the cases in which rulings had been issued against the club – including decisions that led to player contracts being terminated and a registration ban being imposed – were the result of a severe financial crisis.
The club said that crisis followed the withdrawal of its October land in August 2025.
“Zamalek’s board confirms that the cases in which judgments were issued against the club, resulting in the termination of players’ contracts and a registration ban, are connected to the severe financial crisis the club experienced as a result of the withdrawal of the October land in August 2025,” the statement said.
“This affected financial inflows and contributed to the club being unable to meet its obligations to several parties, including the players contracted by the club. This led those players to submit complaints and caused the number of cases against the club to accumulate.”
The board added: “The club confirms that it is completely removed from any suspicion of involvement in these cases.”
It also said: “The club stresses that it will take all legal measures against everyone who has accused the administration, whether of wasting public money or corruption, without justification or genuine evidence.”
Zamalek called on media organisations to exercise greater accuracy when reporting on the club’s legal cases and financial affairs.
“The matter has gone beyond its limits, and the club’s administration will take action against anyone who makes false accusations against members of the board,” it added.
On the pitch, Zamalek are preparing to face Misr Lel Makkasa at Cairo International Stadium at 20:00 on Friday in the last-32 stage of the Egypt Cup.
The club ended a difficult run against El Mokawloon El Arab in the league by recording its first victory after both teams had struggled in their previous five league matches.
The result moved Zamalek to 19 points in second place temporarily, while El Mokawloon El Arab remain on 11 points in seventh.
Zamalek’s next league fixture will be against El Gouna on 23 November.
