Yves Bissouma has officially joined Ajax Amsterdam after leaving Tottenham, with the Mali international signing a contract that runs until 30 June 2027.
The 30-year-old midfielder was a free agent after his Tottenham contract ended this summer and will wear the number 28 shirt at the Dutch club.
Bissouma’s move brings an end to a period of uncertainty over his next destination. Several European clubs had shown an interest in the midfielder, who was free to choose his next club after departing Tottenham.
Ajax Amsterdam had been working on the deal for several weeks. Under the direction of Jordi Cruyff, the Amsterdam club began pursuing Bissouma in August as part of its plans to strengthen the midfield.
Those discussions have now concluded with an agreement, which Ajax Amsterdam confirmed on its social media channels. The announcement ended speculation about where the experienced midfielder would continue his career.
Premier League experience for Ajax
Bissouma arrives with several seasons of Premier League football behind him and brings experience of playing at the highest level of European football.
His move to the Netherlands represents a new challenge after his time in England. He will now have to adjust to a different footballing environment while contributing his experience to Ajax Amsterdam’s midfield.
The Malian has therefore begun a new chapter with one of the Netherlands’ most prominent clubs. His agreement with Ajax Amsterdam remains in place until June 2027.
Ajax Amsterdam are due to play Excelsior in their seventh match of the Dutch league season. The published betting odds for the fixture list Ajax Amsterdam as favourites at 1.22, with a draw priced at 5.60 and an Excelsior victory at 7.20.
