Algeria and the Democratic Republic of Congo have concluded their journey at the Handball World Cup in Serbia, each suffering their fifth defeat in the competition on Wednesday.
In their match against the Netherlands on the fifth day, the vice-champion of Africa, DR Congo, lost 33-21. The Congolese women will play their last match on Friday against the Dominican Republic.
In a match against China, Algeria showed effort. Dominating shortly before halftime (13-12), they were caught at the last minute and overtaken before the break (13-14). Despite a good first half, the Algerians began the second period with the same intensity. However, a severe 2-minute exclusion against Ratiba towards the end allowed China to secure their victory (25-27).
With the conclusion of the tournament for Algeria and DR Congo, Tunisia and Angola face Germany and Norway, respectively, on Thursday. The Tunisian Lionesses have no room for error, facing a tough opponent if they want to continue in the competition. Meanwhile, Angola has the potential to qualify for the round of 16.
