Kayserispor is in advanced negotiations to sign Tunisian international right-back Wajdi Kechrida, following the expiration of his contract with Greek Super League club Atromitos. The Turkish club, which finished 14th in the last Super Lig season, is keen to bolster its defense with an experienced player who possesses strong offensive capabilities.

Kechrida, 28, is currently a free agent and has drawn interest from various clubs. According to Africafoot, Kayserispor is particularly eager to secure his services.

The club sees Kechrida as a valuable addition to their squad, aiming to enhance their defensive strength while adding an offensive edge from the back.

The Tunisian defender has also been approached by clubs in Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Greece, but none of these discussions have led to a concrete agreement.

Kechrida is reportedly prioritizing a move to a competitive league to maintain his place in the Tunisian national team, with upcoming qualifiers for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2026 World Cup on the horizon.

Kechrida’s market value stands at €700,000, as per Transfermarkt. During his tenure with Atromitos, he played 19 league matches and provided one assist.

His performance has not only showcased his defensive abilities but also highlighted his potential contributions to the offensive play, making him a desirable target for Kayserispor.

The Nice-born player is looking to continue his career in a league that offers both competition and visibility, ensuring his continued presence in the national team setup.

His decision to favor a competitive championship aligns with his ambitions of playing in significant international tournaments.

In his previous stint at Atromitos, Kechrida earned an annual salary of €144,768.

His time in the Greek Super League has equipped him with valuable experience, which he now aims to bring to the Turkish top flight with Kayserispor.

The Turkish club’s interest in Kechrida is part of a broader strategy to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.

With their defensive vulnerabilities exposed last season, Kayserispor is determined to avoid a repeat and sees the acquisition of Kechrida as a step in the right direction.

As discussions between Kayserispor and Kechrida progress, the Turkish club is optimistic about finalizing the deal. Should the negotiations succeed, Kechrida will join a team eager to improve its league standing and compete more effectively in the upcoming season.

For Kayserispor, securing a player of Kechrida’s caliber would not only fortify their defense but also provide a boost in morale and performance as they prepare for the challenges ahead.

Meanwhile, Kechrida’s move to the Super Lig would offer him the platform to demonstrate his skills on a larger stage, potentially opening doors for further advancements in his career.

With both parties keen on reaching an agreement, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether Kayserispor can successfully add Wajdi Kechrida to their roster.

The outcome of these negotiations will be eagerly anticipated by fans and analysts alike, as it could significantly impact Kayserispor’s prospects for the new season.
