Vinicius Junior says Mourinho wants him ‘happy’ as Real Madrid future remains unresolved
Vinicius Junior has given a positive first assessment of Jose Mourinho’s new Real Madrid project, while the Brazil forward’s long-term future at the club remains uncertain amid links with a possible move to Arsenal this summer.
Vinicius is currently training under Mourinho and has spoken publicly for the first time about the new direction at Real Madrid. His comments offer an indication that he remains engaged with the club’s plans, despite continued questions over his contract.
The player’s current deal is due to expire next summer and has not yet been renewed. Vinicius is expected to hold talks with Real Madrid in an attempt to reach an agreement, but the situation is not currently distracting him, according to the source article.
Speaking to Real Madrid’s television channel, Vinicius described his early experience of working with Mourinho and meeting the club’s new players.
“Things have gone well. I have got to know the new coach and the new players, and I have trained hard. Mourinho wants me to be as I have always been: happy, cheerful and playing football in my own style,” he said.
The forward also discussed the physical demands of pre-season preparation, in comments interpreted as a further indication of his intention to continue wearing Real Madrid’s white shirt.
“We need to prepare ourselves physically so that we have fewer injuries during the season and can rely on everyone,” Vinicius added.
He went on to explain how the training schedule had been structured as the squad prepared for the new campaign.
“We had a double training session yesterday and one today. That is how things are. Today we did some exercises in the gym and short drills to strengthen our leg muscles. It was a good training session and we all left feeling extremely tired, but now it is time to rest and prepare for tomorrow. That is how pre-season works, and we have to be ready,” he said.
Vinicius’ remarks come at a time when his position at Real Madrid is the subject of growing speculation. The possibility of a departure to Arsenal has been raised, although no agreement over his future has been reached and he is still waiting for discussions with Real Madrid.
For now, the Brazilian is concentrating on training under Mourinho, adapting to the new players and building his fitness ahead of the season. His public comments suggest he is comfortable with the manager’s expectations and the club’s approach to preparation, even though the question of whether he will extend his stay remains open.
The forward’s contract situation means talks with Real Madrid will be important in determining his next step, but his focus at present is on ensuring he is physically prepared and available throughout the campaign.
