Ronaldo included in Portugal’s preliminary squad for November Nations League fixtures

Cristiano Ronaldo has been included in Portugal’s preliminary squad for the November 2026 international break, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.

Portugal are preparing to face Denmark and Wales in their final two matches of the UEFA Nations League group stage. The meeting with Denmark will take place on 14 November, followed by the fixture against Wales on 17 November.

Ronaldo’s inclusion could pave the way for his return to the national team after the dispute that overshadowed the previous international break. His suspension is due to expire at the end of the current month, meaning he will be available by the time Portugal play their two November matches.

The forward was also named in Jesus’ first squad for a four-match UEFA Nations League schedule. He started Portugal’s opening match against Wales, but was an unused substitute in the second fixture, against Norway.

Jesus subsequently said the circumstances of the match had prevented Ronaldo from taking part.

The situation escalated after the president of the Portuguese Football Federation held an urgent meeting with Ronaldo and Jesus. Following that meeting, Portugal’s captain left the national team camp.

Rafael Leao wore the number seven shirt in Ronaldo’s place in the next match against Denmark. Despite government intervention, the disagreement remained unresolved.

Portugal completed the first four rounds of the competition with a perfect record, securing their place in the quarter-finals before playing the final two group matches.

Ronaldo’s proposed return would therefore come after the completion of his suspension and ahead of Portugal’s concluding fixtures against Denmark and Wales. The preliminary selection does not yet confirm the final squad, but his presence on the list indicates he remains part of the plans for the November break.
