Sukazi says TS Galaxy Queens are building towards 2027 after Sundowns defeat

TS Galaxy FC chairman Tim Sukazi says the club’s women’s side are already planning for the 2027 Hollywoodbets Super League campaign after their 5-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies.

Sukazi described the result as an important warning and said TS Galaxy Queens would use the rest of the season to evaluate their squad, experiment with combinations and give younger players valuable experience.

The chairman watched the match in person and said the quality of the opposition made it an important test for a developing team.

“We know that an opponent like this will always be a challenge to any other team in the Hollywoodbets Super League. When you are available as chairman, you have to come and support. We have got a young team, and we are already preparing for next season. We don’t look at these results with a winning mindset. We look at this encounter as a measure to see what there is for us to build on and rectify for next season,” said Sukazi.

He said the club’s immediate priority was not simply to chase results, but to ensure its younger players were exposed to demanding matches against leading opposition.

“For us, the most important thing is to give the youngsters experience, especially playing against a team like Sundowns. From a preparation point of view, we are on the right track in terms of building the team we want for the near future. We are not in a rush,” he added.

Sukazi also stressed that his attendance at the team’s matches was intended to demonstrate TS Galaxy’s commitment to women’s football. He said the women’s game continued to face serious financial challenges and urged businesses and football stakeholders in South Africa to help provide greater support.

“You know that women’s football is not supported financially, and it is very strenuous to keep it afloat. That is why a lot of clubs are walking away from it, and some teams in the Premiership don’t want anything to do with it. That is why we are here to make a concerted effort to mobilise resources for the women’s team,” said Sukazi.

He also offered his backing to Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies before their CAF Women’s Champions League campaign, which starts in Egypt on 1 November.

Sukazi praised the Brazilians for their achievements in representing South Africa on the continental stage and said TS Galaxy would support them during their preparations.

“They are a club in the women’s game that we are very proud of. They fly the South African flag high on the continent, and we will make sure we support them as much as we can ahead of their Champions League campaign.”
