Sevilla FC coach Garcia Pimienta has expressed confidence in Kelechi Iheanacho’s potential ahead of their upcoming Copa del Rey clash against Olot on Thursday night.
Despite a tough start in La Liga, where Iheanacho has yet to score in seven appearances, the striker made a strong impression in the competition’s first round, netting twice in Sevilla’s 3-0 victory over Las Rozas.
Garcia Pimienta acknowledged the Nigerian’s contributions, noting that although Iheanacho has faced limited playing time in La Liga, he has been consistently impressive in training.
He was ready to come on, but Lokonga had a little problem and Agoumé went off,” the coach explained.
He is training very well, he has not played more because I felt that Isaac was doing a good job.
The coach further praised Iheanacho’s credentials, emphasizing the striker’s experience and pedigree.
Tomorrow he will play in the match, and if you look at his CV, you can see that he is a great player,” Pimienta added.
However, he was cautious about making any concrete plans, stating that, we are not considering anything specific at the moment.
Iheanacho will look to build on his promising performance in the Copa del Rey as Sevilla aims to progress in the competition.
