Ronaldo makes Al Nassr history with landmark finish against Al Taawoun

Cristiano Ronaldo set a new Al Nassr scoring benchmark in the Roshn Saudi League on Friday, scoring his side’s second goal against Al Taawoun in the fourth round to become the club’s outright leading scorer in the competition.

The Al Nassr captain struck in the 50th minute, reacting quickest after Mohamed Simakan’s effort had caused confusion inside the Al Taawoun penalty area. Ronaldo guided the loose ball into the net with a clever touch, taking advantage of the uncertainty in the defence and wrong-footing the goalkeeper.

The finish gave Al Nassr a renewed advantage in the match and added another significant milestone to Ronaldo’s increasingly influential spell with the club.

It was not simply the latest goal in the Portugal international’s record. The strike took his total for Al Nassr in the Saudi professional league to 104, moving him above Mohammad Al-Sahlawi at the top of the club’s all-time scoring list in the competition. Al-Sahlawi had previously held the record with 103 goals.

A post describing the moment read: “Goal! ⚽️ Cristiano Ronaldo turns the game around and scores Al Nassr’s second goal against Al Taawoun.”

According to football statistics provider Opta, Ronaldo needed only 110 appearances to reach 104 league goals for Al Nassr. Al-Sahlawi, by contrast, scored his 103 goals in 205 matches, meaning Ronaldo achieved the total in 95 fewer games.

The figures underline the Portuguese forward’s outstanding scoring rate since joining Al Nassr. He has averaged 0.95 goals per match in the Saudi professional league, compared with Al-Sahlawi’s rate of 0.50 goals per game.

Ronaldo’s latest achievement continues a remarkable run of record-breaking performances in an Al Nassr shirt. In a relatively short period, he has established himself as the club’s leading scorer in the Saudi professional league, with his high conversion rate and direct contribution having made a clear impact since his arrival in the Roshn Saudi League.

The milestone came during a match in the competition’s fourth round, with Ronaldo once again providing the decisive moment for his team after following up Simakan’s shot. His ability to turn a loose ball into a goal ensured that his contribution against Al Taawoun carried both immediate value for Al Nassr and lasting significance in the club’s history.
