DR Congo Under-15s arrive in Baku for historic FIFA World Cup debut

The Democratic Republic of the Congo Under-15 national team has arrived in Baku ahead of the FIFA U15 World Cup, which will take place in Azerbaijan from 22 to 30 October.

The delegation’s arrival marks the official start of a landmark campaign for the young Leopards, who are preparing to represent their country at the tournament for the first time. The squad has begun settling into its surroundings in the Azerbaijani capital before the competition gets under way.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo has been drawn in Group D, where it faces a demanding and varied schedule against Brazil, El Salvador, Guinea-Bissau, Nepal and Tunisia.

That line-up will expose the Congolese players to a range of footballing traditions and playing styles, as they take on some of the leading nations in their age group. The tournament will provide a significant test of their ability while offering valuable experience at international level.

With the technical staff overseeing preparations, the young Leopards are approaching the competition with ambition and determination. Their participation represents an important opportunity for the country’s emerging footballers to compete on a global stage and demonstrate their potential.

The squad will also carry the expectations of supporters in the Democratic Republic of the Congo as it seeks to represent the national colours with pride. Beyond the results, the tournament offers the players an important platform and could help establish the foundations for the next generation of Congolese football.
