Richarlison left out of Tottenham squad as Trabzonspor move raises prospect of Mohamed Salah reunion

Richarlison has been omitted from Tottenham Hotspur’s squad for the first half of the 2026-27 season, increasing speculation that the Brazil international is heading for the exit at the north London club.

The 29-year-old forward was not included in Tottenham’s Premier League squad list as preparations continue for a possible departure. His omission comes after he was linked with a return to Everton before the end of the summer transfer window, although that move did not materialise.

Richarlison is now expected to leave Tottenham after falling out of manager Roberto De Zerbi’s plans. The forward is understood to be considering a move to either the Turkish or Saudi Arabian leagues.

He has recently been linked with Trabzonspor, which could see him play alongside Mohamed Salah. The Turkish club have identified Richarlison as their top priority to strengthen their attack, with the transfer window in Turkey remaining open until 4 September.

Reports suggest Richarlison has become increasingly open to a move to the Turkish league. Trabzonspor are expected to make a new offer for the Brazilian after Tottenham previously rejected two bids worth 15m euros and 20m euros.

Richarlison would earn three times his current Tottenham salary if he completed a move to Trabzonspor.

The forward joined Tottenham in the summer of 2022 and has made 134 appearances for the club, scoring 32 goals. Before moving to north London, he spent four seasons with Everton and one campaign at Watford.

His exclusion from the squad comes as Tottenham consider the next stage of his career away from the club. Although Everton explored the possibility of signing him during the summer, the proposed transfer was not completed, leaving the player’s future unresolved.

Trabzonspor’s continued interest provides Richarlison with a potential route out of Tottenham, while the extended Turkish transfer window gives the club additional time to negotiate a deal. The Turkish side’s reported desire to prioritise him for their attack could lead to a fresh offer in the coming period.

A move to Trabzonspor would also create the possibility of Richarlison becoming club team-mates with Salah. That prospect has added further attention to the developing transfer situation, although no agreement has yet been confirmed.

For now, Richarlison remains a Tottenham player, but his absence from the squad for the opening half of the 2026-27 season is a clear indication that his position at the club has changed. Tottenham’s rejection of the earlier offers means any prospective move will depend on whether Trabzonspor return with a bid acceptable to the London club.

If the transfer is completed, Richarlison would leave Tottenham after four years in which he has scored 32 times in 134 appearances. His previous experience in England also includes spells with Everton and Watford.
