Real Madrid to present new signing Denzel Dumfries at Valdebebas on 28 July

Real Madrid will unveil summer signing Denzel Dumfries next Tuesday, 28 July, at the club’s Valdebebas training complex rather than at the Santiago Bernabeu, according to journalist Ben Fernandez Santos, who specialises in covering the Spanish giants.

The Netherlands right-back has joined the La Liga runners-up from Inter Milan and has signed a contract running until 30 June 2030. Dumfries’ move was completed after Real Madrid triggered the €20m release clause in his Inter deal.

The presentation at the Ciudad Real Madrid in Valdebebas will see the 30-year-old introduced publicly as a Real Madrid player for the first time, as the club continues to reshape its squad ahead of the new campaign.

Competition with Alexander-Arnold

Dumfries is expected to fight for a starting place with England international Trent Alexander-Arnold, the former Liverpool star who is already at the club.

The arrival of the Dutchman adds further depth and experience on the right side of defence, setting up a direct battle between two established international full-backs for a role in Real Madrid’s first XI.

Four-year deal after Inter stint

Dumfries joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2021 from PSV Eindhoven and went on to make more than 200 appearances for the Italian club.

During his time at San Siro, he helped Inter win the Serie A title and played a part in their run to the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain in the 2024-25 season.

His performances at club level, combined with his status as a regular Netherlands international, convinced Real Madrid to activate his clause and bring him to Spain on a four-year contract.

The decision to stage the ceremony at Valdebebas rather than the Bernabeu reflects Real Madrid’s practice of occasionally using their training ground facilities for player presentations, particularly in busy or tightly scheduled pre-season periods.
