Al Ahly to part ways with Reda Slim

Al Ahly are preparing to part ways with Moroccan winger Reda Slim by mutual consent during the January transfer window as the Egyptian giants look to create space for new foreign signings.

The Cairo-based club are assessing their squad ahead of the second half of the season, with plans to strengthen key positions and improve their options for upcoming domestic and continental competitions.

Slim is expected to leave the club when the winter transfer window opens, with Al Ahly working towards an agreement to terminate his contract by mutual consent next January.

His potential departure would free up a foreign-player slot, giving the Egyptian champions greater flexibility to recruit another overseas player to reinforce their squad.

Al Ahly are particularly interested in strengthening their defensive department, with the club considering several foreign options as they assess the players available in the transfer market.

The planned changes form part of the club’s broader recruitment strategy as they seek to address their squad needs ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Meanwhile, Moroccan compatriot Ashraf Bencharki is expected to remain at Al Ahly until the end of the current season, with the club having no immediate plans to sell the attacker during the January transfer window.

Bencharki’s long-term future, however, remains uncertain, as his stay beyond the current campaign will depend on negotiations over a possible contract renewal.

The discussions are expected to focus on the financial terms of a new deal, particularly the player’s salary demands and the club’s wage structure.

With Al Ahly operating within an established salary framework, reaching an agreement could prove decisive in determining whether Bencharki extends his stay beyond the end of the season.

For now, the club’s immediate attention is on reshaping the squad for January, with Slim’s anticipated departure potentially opening the door for a new foreign recruit, particularly in defence.
