Orlando Pirates have completed the permanent signing of Bheki Mabuza from Marumo Gallants, while Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction on season-long loan deals.
The Soweto club confirmed the agreement after reports that Mabuza was set to return to the Buccaneers from Gallants. The move represents another piece of transfer business for Orlando Pirates, who have been active during the current window.
In a statement published on their official website, Orlando Pirates said: “Orlando Pirates Football Club is pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached with Marumo Gallants for the permanent transfer of Bheki Mabuza.”
Mabuza is returning to a club environment he already knows, having previously been part of the Orlando Pirates setup. His transfer from Marumo Gallants brings him back to the Buccaneers on a permanent basis after a period away from the club.
During his time with Gallants, Mabuza made what Orlando Pirates described as encouraging progress. His performances were enough to persuade the club that he had developed to the point where he was ready to return and continue his career with the Buccaneers.
The signing follows reports from Soccer Laduma that Orlando Pirates were preparing to secure Mabuza’s services. The club has now confirmed that an agreement was reached with Marumo Gallants for the player to make a permanent move.
At the same time, Orlando Pirates announced that Msendami and Mariko would leave the club temporarily. Both players will join Marumo Gallants on loan for the season, completing a set of moves between the two clubs.
The club added: “Meanwhile, the club can also confirm that Daniel Msendami and Abdoulaye Mariko will move in the opposite direction, joining Marumo Gallants on season-long loan agreements.”
The arrangement means Mabuza will return to Orlando Pirates, while Msendami and Mariko will spend the upcoming season with Marumo Gallants. The three transfers were confirmed together as part of the clubs’ latest activity in the transfer window.
Mabuza previously represented Orlando Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge side, giving the move an added sense of familiarity. His return follows the progress he made at Marumo Gallants, where his displays convinced the Buccaneers that he was ready to take the next step in his career.
The permanent transfer also marks a continuation of the relationship between Orlando Pirates and Marumo Gallants, with players moving between the clubs as both sides finalise their squads for the season.
