In a much-needed victory for Marseille, Andre Ayew was the standout performer as they defeated Ajaccio 3-1 in their 32nd Ligue 1 match. Despite the challenging atmosphere at the partially empty Vélodrome stadium, Ayew’s stellar performance uplifted the team.
Ayew showcased his attacking prowess throughout the game, scoring three goals. His first goal came with a clever lob in the 4th minute, followed by a header in the 60th minute, and finally, he completed his hat-trick by converting a cross from Dja Djédjé in the 74th minute.
This victory brings Marseille level with Olympique Lyonnais in the league standings, with Lyon set to play against Valenciennes on Sunday.
With only six matches remaining in the championship, Marseille’s win keeps their hopes alive for qualifying for the Europa League.
