Nicolas Anelka has resurfaced, as reported by CatchBrasil.com, in light of his clash with Raymond Domenech, the coach of the French team during the 2010 World Cup. We remember the incident when Anelka insulted Domenech during halftime of the France-Mexico match.
Anelka remains unapologetic and spirited, asserting, “In South Africa, we knew we were heading straight into the wall. We had enough meetings with him for him to make tactical changes.” Anelka continues, “But he did what he wanted, and everyone suffered… When I hear him playing the victim by saying that he couldn’t do anything, it makes me laugh so much. But hey, to sell his book, he had to create a sensation!”
“I insulted in a locker room a coach that all the French people were already insulting, a coach who has never won anything apart from a D2 championship title and the Toulon Tournament!” Anelka adds, “He doesn’t know how to win… I have no respect for the coach. He’s not up to it. When you have been managed by Ancelotti and other greats, it is very hard to be managed by Domenech! If I had to do it again, I would do it again because he deserved it at that moment!”
“I can look at myself in the mirror, I am proud of myself, of my path. If I had to do it again, I would do it again. Titles are good, but you don’t take them to the grave! I have no regrets. I could have been smooth, pleased everyone, especially the press, but that’s not my character. I always believed in what I did. And I never got down on one knee!”
