OLYMPIC WRESTLING: 19 COUNTRIES AT THE AFRICAN CHAMPIONSHIP IN TUNIS
The African Olympic Wrestling Championships kicked off on Friday with the participation of nineteen countries in Tunis. A total of 186 athletes are competing in this prestigious event.
The first day focused on Greco-Roman wrestling, while Saturday’s events will feature women’s wrestling competitions. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with more Greco-Roman wrestling matches.
Teams from North Africa (Egypt, Tunisia, Morocco, and Algeria) along with South Africa are considered favorites, given their strong wrestling traditions. They will face competition from other participating nations including Guinea Bissau, Madagascar, Namibia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Chad, Comoros, Mauritius, Gambia, Liberia, Congo, DR Congo, and Cameroon.
