Samir Nasri slams Arsenal’s approach in Champions League final
Former Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has strongly criticised the Gunners’ performance in the UEFA Champions League final, claiming their negative approach allowed Paris Saint-Germain to deservedly lift the trophy.
The Frenchman did not hold back in his assessment of the match, admitting he found the contest difficult to watch and arguing that Arsenal showed little ambition throughout the encounter.
PSG Crowned European Champions Again
Paris Saint-Germain secured their second consecutive Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties following a 1-1 draw after regular and extra time.
Arsenal made a dream start when Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the sixth minute. However, the Premier League side adopted a cautious approach after taking the lead, allowing PSG to dominate large spells of the match.
The French champions eventually found an equaliser in the 65th minute through Ousmane Dembele, who converted from the penalty spot.
Neither side could find a winner during the remainder of normal time or the additional 30 minutes, sending the final to a penalty shootout where PSG emerged victorious for the second season in succession.
Nasri Delivers Blunt Verdict
Speaking after the match, Nasri expressed his frustration with Arsenal’s style of play and insisted PSG were worthy champions.
He said: “Honestly, I got bored watching it on TV. I found time passing very slowly.”
The former France international went on to criticise his former club’s lack of attacking intent.
He added: “Arsenal didn’t play, and I’m not saying Paris had a great final, but Paris deserved to win, as Arsenal completely refused to play.”
Former Arsenal Star Speaks Out
Nasri’s comments carry extra weight given his history with Arsenal. The midfielder spent three seasons with the North London club between 2008 and 2011 before moving to Manchester City.
During his career, he also represented Marseille and Sevilla, earning a reputation as one of France’s most technically gifted midfielders of his generation.
His latest remarks are likely to spark debate among Arsenal supporters, particularly after a final in which the Gunners came agonisingly close to ending their long wait for Champions League glory.
