RS Berkane head coach Mouin Chaabani has called for cautious optimism regarding his team’s chances of clinching the Moroccan Professional League title, emphasizing the importance of taking each game step by step.
Speaking after his team’s 2-1 victory over Hassania Agadir in the 11th round of the league, Chaabani reflected on RS Berkane’s journey so far.
“We started the tournament with three games away from home. We won against Raja and Olympic Safi, and we drew with the Royal Army.
After that, everyone started saying, ‘RS Berkane will win the championship because the team performed well,’” he said during the post-match press conference.
Chaabani acknowledged the challenges his side has faced, noting fluctuations in their early-season form.
“After the three away games, we played two matches at home against Ittihad Tanger and Al-Fateh Sports Club.
Out of six points, we lost one game and drew the other,” he explained.
The Tunisian coach highlighted the importance of maintaining focus and humility despite recent successes.
“At that point, we dropped to sixth or seventh place.
Then we won six matches, but when you win, you should not get too excited.
Stay humble, keep working hard, and remind yourself that you haven’t achieved anything yet,” he said.
Looking ahead, Chaabani outlined his strategy for the rest of the season.
“We’ve instilled confidence in the players and worked to ensure that our style of play remains consistent.
We haven’t even reached the halfway mark of the tournament. It’s still too early to draw conclusions, so we are taking each match as it comes,” he said.
The coach also pointed to the additional challenge of competing in the CAF Confederation Cup. “A new objective awaits us.
Even a change of one or two players can affect our style, so we hope the coming period unfolds under the best conditions,” Chaabani concluded.
RS Berkane’s measured approach under Chaabani reflects the team’s determination to build a sustainable path to success while navigating the demands of domestic and continental competitions.
