Trabzonspor came from behind to beat Rizespor 4-3 in a dramatic Turkish league match, with Mohamed Salah starting but ending the game without scoring or providing an assist.

The result, played at Rizespor’s stadium in the ninth round, moved Trabzonspor to 19 points and second place in the table, one point behind leaders Amedspor.

Ernest Muci was central to the visitors’ comeback, creating three goals and also contributing to the fourth.

Rizespor made the stronger start. Gennaro Borrelli opened the scoring in the 12th minute before adding a second in the 32nd minute after being set up by Adedire Mebude.

Trabzonspor went into half-time two goals behind, but the match changed rapidly after the interval.

Melih Kabasakal pulled one goal back for Trabzonspor in the 49th minute, finishing a move created by Muci. Two minutes later, Aral Simsir levelled the score with another assist from the same player.

The turnaround was completed in the 57th minute when Frankolinho Djou followed up after the goalkeeper had saved Muci’s effort to put Trabzonspor 3-2 ahead. The three goals had arrived within eight minutes.

Rizespor refused to surrender and restored parity in the 68th minute through Kazim Laci, who struck a powerful shot from outside the penalty area.

Trabzonspor regained the lead seven minutes from time. Muci supplied another pass for Frankolinho Djou, who broke clear before firing into the net to make it 4-3.

Rizespor pressed for a fourth equaliser during the closing stages, but Trabzonspor held on to extend their winning run under manager Thomas Reis.

Trabzonspor’s next match will be against Gaziantep on Sunday, 1 November.
